I was pulling into the garage tonight (this morning?) and I turn the headlight switch to the off position. Except the right side running lights were still on. Upon further inspection I found out that I poses parking lights. Yay ?

They were traditionally a German thing. You’d often see an Audi, VW or whatever parked with lights on on one side, the owner being unaware that if you stopped the engine with the indicators on this is what happened.
Ford used to do them once too.
Nowadays there’s sometimes a separate setting on the light switch for parking lights.

Don’t all cars have parking lights?
Brief anecdote: My grandmother learned to drive in San Diego during WWII. The west coast was terrified of being attacked by the Japanese, and one of the ways they were trying to avoid attack was by only having minimal lights on at night. Cars were not allowed to use their headlights, so she learned to drive using only parking lights at night.

A lot of German Euro cars have standard parking lights, but the ability to turn only one side of them on and off at will as well.

Oh wow. I didn’t know that.
What’s the advantage of only turning on one side?

Not sure - one of the German Oppos will be able to explain better, I’d think! :P

That’s what this is. To the left of the off position on the knob.

I’m not sure. I’ve never used them but maybe they’re just for finding the curb ?

So you can park on the side of road but to save the battery you just have the offside lights on.
